Does the thread really need a moderator?

I can see value in having a moderator to deal with some types of activities. If somebody came to the thread with the sole purpose of making personal attacks against someone that are based on interactions on other threads, Or if a person comes to the thread for the sole purpose of disrupting the thread...an example would be posting many posts with no content. ....or spam....All of which, can technically be solved at the individual level with the ignore feature, but could justify hitting the ban button.

Whomever it is, the moderator should be someone who is skeptical about the role and is philosophically against solving other people's problems when they could easily solve it themselves with the ignore feature.

Basically, the thread needs a hardcore libertarian who doesn't want the job and would moderate the thread such that nobody would ever know there is a moderator.

If only there was a hardcore libertarian on the thread who didn't really think that the thread needed a moderator.....that would be the guy
