I wonder what their policy will be for 'veterans' like me. Back when the previous owners took over I decided to send a check for a paid membership. They decided they weren't going to charge for membership and offered to return the check. I said 'keep it' because SI was worth it to me. I don't know that it changed my status, or if it will give me the power to turn of banner ads.

I hope I can do that, but depending on how annoying they are, I am pretty resistant to banner ads. It's like when I was in High School I could study when the other kids were horsing around, and therefore had no 'homework' to do when I got home. I have little doors on my ears and eyes that I can shut at will.
