Reduction of spending is the only way out and the voters refuse to tighten their belts. They can't see the end result. When things crash they will eat all their provisions, leaving nothing to ration. Then the light will go on, but seeing the reality won't change it then. There can be a case made that even with conservatives winning the Whitehouse, and both houses of congress the pain will be felt and although improvements are made the pain of belt tightening will cause the votes then to flow into those who promise candy.

Very sad.
