To survive we will need a much more socialistic society/planet with much less differential in income and worth

The premise conflicts with human nature. Those who do more begin to resent those who do little or nothing. There is also the matter of other tribes or nations that want your resources. .More than human nature, just nature period. No free lunch. The big eat the small and there is always something bigger, by individual size or communal size.

The lion will lay with the lamb until his hunger grows.
