I checked out two CompUSA stores over the weekend. One was in Culver City and the other was in Claremont. Both of these California stores just had the store within store added. At Culver City, a couple had just bought a 6500, 15"AV and an Apple printer and was trying to fit the three large boxed into their car. The traffic at the Apple section was pretty good. Both stores had the basic line in display: eMate, G3 desktops/mini-tower, G3 Powerbooks (the fastest laptop on earth), 6500 and 8600s. Both stores had a rep in the Apple section they were wearing the CompUSA shirt but with an Apple logo on their sleeve. Apple seems to be keeping these stores well stocked. I saw many G3 boxes and at the Claremont store and there were 7 8600/300s.

Now the good news..
I've orderd a QuickTake 200 from Apple's 1-800-795-1000 number for $249. Dirt cheap. With $5 overnight shipping I'll get it tomorrow.

The experience was so pleasant that I decided to buy a G3/266 MT to replace my 7600. I called again to place an order but they told me that the 266 MT won't be in stock until Fri. I'm still debating whether to go with the 8600/300 instead so I guess this will give me some time to decide. I know the new machine will also come with a free QT200 so I'll probably give it to my girlfriend.
