The problem is, inflation may get out of control and happen explosively. The Fed is already the biggest buyer of treasuries (and everyone knows where the Fed gets the money). At some point, this may trigger a panic.

Which means tha, in order to maintain credibility and stability, the gov(mint) and the Fed would need some periods of "austerity" to take place. They outlawed naturally occurring business cycles and recessions -- now, they'll have to arrange for some "synthetic" ones, instead... lol.
