I find it hard to accept that the Asian financial mess has much to do with Oracle's numbers. As someone who runs a pretty significant business, and represents lots of others, it seems to me that momentum alone would have carried the company through the Asian waters this past quarter. A turndown in new business generally affects subsequent quarters, not the current one. For example, I could close my law firm today, and the closure would not present any meaningful revenue problems for at least 60 days. If I adjust expenses down to reflect closure, my margins will actually improve momentarily as the revuenues "run off". I could put a chimpanzee at reception answering the phone and I'd still make money for quite a while.

I wonder if Oracle's sales problems are not perhaps related to Oracle's products instead.

Just some errant thoughts...

Regards,

John
