Yes Samsung and Apple, and some others, have gone the microcontroller(MCU) route to save power, and yep QUIK is trying to get in on the game at a lower power level. I doubt INVN thought it was going to do the same bearing in mind that they only offer 2 out of about 7 or 8 sensors in a high-end smartphone.

My terse point re Qualcomm is that I doubt they are interested in the actual sensors, but more in processing all the sensor data and doing some smart algorithms, which is what others are looking to do partly, or even fully with a MCU, or on what QUIK have introduced.

However I'm sure in time Qualcomm would like to do some low power solution to bolster their SoCs, and replace the MCU. Just the way of the tech world.
