NEWS: "TIMESTEP EXPANDS INTERNATIONAL REACH THROUGH GLOBAL
DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH NEWBRIDGE NETWORKS"

KANATA, Ontario, Dec. 9 /CNW/ - TimeStep Corp., a leading
provider of secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions,
announced today that they have signed the final phase of an
agreement with Newbridge Networks, a leader in communications
networking solutions, to sell TimeStep's secure VPN products
through the Newbridge(R) worldwide distribution channels.
Security is a critical element for carriers to be able to
provide networking services to their customers. The
combination of the strength of the Newbridge(R) networking
solution and the TimeStep(TM) security products provides a
very powerful offering for carriers and enterprises alike. We
are very pleased to formalize this relationship,'' said Ken
Davison, vice president, global marketing for Newbridge
Networks.
The agreement extends TimeStep's penetration into the
market through the impressive Newbridge international sales
channels that span over 100 countries. Expected to be
operational by mid-January, the new distribution arrangement
will strengthen TimeStep's existing international distribution
network and reinforce its competitive position within the
secure VPN industry.
Newbridge is an internationally recognized leader in
networking with
extensive inroads into our target markets including the telecommunications
service provider industry,'' said Tim Hember, TimeStep president and CEO.
Selling our flagship product line through the Newbridge worldwide
distribution channel gives us instant access to regions that otherwise may
take years to build up. We are pleased to provide TimeStep products to
Newbridge who in turn will be able to offer their customers scaleable,
manageable, and standards-based secure VPN solutions.''
Newbridge channels, consisting of distributors and direct sales, will
benefit by adding complementary security solutions to their comprehensive
family of networking products and systems. Also, TimeStep products align well
with the Newbridge focus on its recently announced Carrier Scale
Internetworking(TM) (CSI) initiative. Through CSI, Newbridge and its partner
companies will provide end-to-end solutions that enable carriers to offer
differentiated Internet Protocol (IP) networking services to enterprise
customers.
Under the terms of the agreement, Newbridge will carry TimeStep's entire
network security product offering including its flagship product suite, PERMIT
Enterprise(TM). Designed for large-scale business communications, PERMIT
Enterprise is an IPSEC (Internet Protocol Security) compliant, secure VPN
solution that can easily be deployed into existing networks. By integrating
best-of-breed technologies from Entrust Technologies and Check Point, PERMIT
Enterprise consolidates secure VPN, access control, and authentication
technologies in a single solution. All of which makes PERMIT Enterprise the
complete network security solution for corporate intranets, extranets, and
Internet remote access.
