JB, you didn't specify bids and asks so I don't fully understand your
question... so i'll make up one of my own. lets say the board looks
like this
MM Bid Volume MM Ask Volume
ISLD 5 7/8 500 NITE 6 300
MASH 5 7/8 300 HRZG 6 1/16 1000
WEIN 5 13/16 100 MASH 6 1/16 500
NITE 5 3/4 400 SHWD 6 1/8 1200
NFSC 5 3/4 200 WEIN 6 1/8 500
etc... etc...

Now lets say you have a stop on 2,000 shares at 5 3/4. To throw the
stop, an enterprising MM would, in quick succession, sell 500 @ 5
7/8 to fill the ISLD bid, 300 @ 5 7/8 to MASH, 100 @ 5 13/16 to
WEIN. Then the bid is at 5 3/4 - to get the price to 5 3/4 he would
need to sell some shares to either NITE or NFSC, say 100 shares @ 5
3/4 to NITE. Your shares would then become available and he would
try to snap up as many of them as he could. If he was your broker
he could get all 2,000, if your broker clears through the ISLD (like
Datek, I beleive the shares would be equally available to all
comers. Unless other MMs were asleep at the wheel he would have to
move very fast - otherwise they would put more bids in his way so
they could get cheap shares off him as he tries to knock out the
bids.

This is my understanding of how this works. If I am in error
somebody please inform me.

live long and prosper
