No it doesn't. Many ways of measuring it do, but neither the concept itself nor my description of it, states, requires, or implies any such assumption.

Again, it doesn't. Illegal activity is still economic activity.

Which doesn't mean that economic growth is not generally beneficial and important. If certain ways to grow the economy cause harm, and some cause harm that's greater than the benefit, that's not an argument against economic growth but against those particular actions or methods.

Obviously that is a point that plenty of scientists argue about....

People can argue just about anything, but my statement is correct.
