We have a fundamental disagreement about the role of government and will just have to learn to tolerate each other.

I'm for social safety nets and things that will help people stand on their own two feet (education loans, training), but for not things that make it easy for individuals to avoid personal responsibility. Truly believe that life is tough and a person has to learn how to cope in order to succeed.

Any program that offers a "way out" from becoming self sufficient I oppose.

I support programs for the disabled (to include veterans) and handicapped, and not for the able bodied who have been led into social programs that support them. Let them work and acquire life skills and not have the 'safety net" of producing children for government benefits--which probably just creates more government dependents--although statistically that is a mixed bag.

Onward and upward.
