differentiation and working together for the whole. </i

Neither differentiation, nor working together and benefiting the whole requires centralization.

One of the point Adam Smith raised was about the "invisible hand", were people worked, and benefited others, without any central control.

The factories mentioned in the quote your responded to have some centralized aspects, but the system they operate in isn't centralized.

FWIW, I think there ARE some industries that could use a little less centralization or 'reverse evolution".... like agriculture.

I agree that central command and control has been a disaster in agriculture (also in other areas) when its been tried, and that even the more limited centralization that's common today (mandatory government marketing schemes, price supports, price ceilings, subsidies for farms and/or for consumers of farm products, etc.) have been expensive and generally very negative.
