By your standards, pretty much every President the U.S. has ever had has been a destroyer of our Constitutional rights. The technology has changed, but the government has pretty much spied, at least ever since we've been secure enough as a nation to stand on our own two feet. I can think as far back as the Pinkertons, but Wilson had the American Protective League which kept going long into the '20s... J. Edgar Hoover did his thing for 50 years. We've had COINTELPRO, the Patriot Act. It's a machine that's gone on all by itself and is going to take much more than one President's term to fix it. I don't think Obama's even trying, but I couldn't tell you the last time a President did.

But posting about stuff that happened three years before Obama entered office and screaming about how it shows that he's lighting the Constitution on fire is certainly not helpful to the conversation.
