Your point is taken...there is a lot more of the US economy (actually world economy) that is dependent on federal funding. However, every tea party blog is pushing the angle about federal government employees (often by miscounting those numbers), while the recent steep rise in deficits has been from trying to save the world financial system (lots of foreign banks and governments were helped with emergency funding and swaps). But mentioning the latter fact is not going to support the narrative of a socialist Obama administration.
