| | | Multiculturalism - We agree on this. It is destroying our culture. And it not only doesn't benefit those who have always lived in the American culture, it harms those from other cultures who move here and don't make any attempt to blend in. The concept of the melting pot where all of the different cultures came here and became one was something we bragged about in the past. Now, nobody talks about the melting pot anymore. We are becoming the tower of babel.
To answer several of your questions/points with a blanket answer: I am a small "L" libertarian. I believe in a non-coercive government. This includes behaviors that I don't particularly like. I believe that businesses and individuals have the absolute right to discriminate. I don't like it, but in the case of businesses, I think that they are only harming themselves. Individuals discriminate in some way or another a dozen times a day. Of course, when it comes to the government, I believe that there is an absolute responsibility to not discriminate based on the normal things one isn't supposed to discriminate on.,
Let me ask you, in knowing what you know about Mexico and Africa, for example, would you want to live in either place? After all, it is wrong to judge a whole race/ethnicity, right? Yet we do exactly that by choosing not to live in places where low-quality people greatly outnumber high-quality people. It is simply too dangerous and the conditions in such places would be unacceptable to us. Of course not. But then again, I wouldn't move to England, France or Spain either for the same reasons. I have been a victim of crime far more by white people in France than I have in Africa or Mexico (all three of which I have been to in the past year.).
Affirmative Action: I posted something about it just a couple of hours ago. If you didn't see it, go back and look at the posts that I made today and you will see it. AA is a racist program to start with. That in itself makes it unconstitutional. But almost as importantly, as you pointed out, it is very damaging to anyone who AA covers. It will always call into question whether that person is qualified or not.
We can argue about who is at fault, but I largely agree with you that Whites are at fault for allowing the undesirable condition to emerge and exist. Blacks and Browns are simply behaving in ways that come naturally to them, but Whites are responsible for tolerating and condoning it.
and this is where we part ways. When you say that blacks and browns are simply behaving in ways that comes naturally to them, it turns into racism rather than observation and common sense. We see the same behavioral response from whites who haven't adopted the american culture and who have the same programs applied to them. It applies to asians too. The asian gangs in Los Angeles are every bit as dangerous as black and hispanic gangs.
This unnatural state in the U.S. has been developed and fostered for decades now, and here we are now. Consequently, the United States is a shadow of its former self. Frankly, I do not care if that position is deemed racist or not. It is the undeniable truth. Recognizing that other cultures and sub-cultures are inferior to that of the United States as defined in the U.S. Constitution, is not racist. Believing that the negative characteristics in those cultures/sub-cultures are associated with any given race is where the racism creeps in. And where your solutions are certainly a part of what must be done, you don't really have a plan that gets us from point A to point B. It's kinda like the South Park underwear gnomes' business plan for getting rich off of stealing underpants.
Short of Balkanization, which may end up being the only answer, we have to try to change the perception of the liberal racial and social justice programs. And it is the black and brown communities which need their perceptions changed the most. We need them to reject handouts from the government in the same way that they would reject a deal with the devil. Because it is their soul, dignity and individuality that the government takes. And if we lead with comments that are clearly racist, there is no chance of this ever happening. And once you understand the mechanism that causes the cultural breakdown, regardless of race, it is easy to show that it isn't racist. From there, most adults understand how enabling negative and self destructive behavior only reinforces the bad behavior. It is very simple to make the analogy to a drug addict who is living at home. Nobody can fix him. He has to fix himself. All that we can contribute is to not enable him and get out of the way so that he can hit bottom and fix himself.
The key is to get the people who currently accept government handouts to reject the handouts. Any other approach will fail. |
