I've been thinking about what is politically "extreme" in the present environment. My wife and I spent a bit of time during our morning walk working around it. It may take a bit to get there but one element would be to undermine the democratic process. In that case, quite obviously, the shutdown and the threatened debt ceiling strategy were undemocratic. As is the entire voter suppression move of certain elements within the Republican Party (more than simply the tea party). I don't see comparable "extremes" on the visible left of the Democratic party. Anyone.
