I suspect China will solve its environmental problems from a people 1'st perspective. They will solve the air and water issues, as far a people go. But I don't expect their ecology to be great.

What I fear is that China in the 21'st century will show that humans can survive and prosper even if they totally trash their ecology for most other life. They will also show that society can prosper a) without 1'st Amendment protections, b) without 2'nd Amendment, c) without property right protections, d) with large scale cronyism/nepotism, e) without much regard for individual life, etc, and the list goes on.

Much of what I value is largely irrelevant to building a human society which can thrive, even if somehow I think they are important. The fear I have is that when China has made it crystal clear to the rest of the world what is fundamental and what is superfluous in building a wealthy and powerful economy, much of what I value will get tossed out the window in other countries attempting to keep up with China.

Just my WAG, and I'll be long gone before the end of this game is played out.
