John Puffer - Thank you very much for your insight. I found your comments on DOA rates being lowered via BTO interesting, as many on the Dell thread have been saying that the direct model works better because there are less 'touches' to the machine. As for notebooks, although I no longer work for IBM I can still get an employee discount through relatives that do, and I'm waiting for prices to drop a bit as I would really like to get my hands on the Thinkpad 770 with the 14.1" screen and DVD. I currently own a Thinkpad 755c, and these machines are the class of the notebook field in my opinion. John
