Hi bentway; Your graphic is accurate and important. But it doesn't mean the Republican party goes away.

Eventually, I expect that some sort of government healthcare will be accepted because Obama's basically destroyed the old system. The Republicans will undoubtedly be a part of the new legislation and they will support the replacement for Obamacare (just like the Republicans supported Social Security).

Eventually the divide between the parties will reduce to the old "culture wars". And that is precisely where Reagan picked up minority votes. Abortion, gun ownership, belief in God, these are the issues that will distinguish the Republican party from the Democrat (in an environment of universal big government support).
