This is my hope too. One of the things that will make Medicare for All possible is if it is financed by everybody, for example, via a federal sales tax specifically to pay for such Medicare expansion. I believe that the real, though unstated, reason for Republican opposition, is that ACA was financed almost exclusively with taxes on the "rich", while the main beneficiaries, the poor, contributed nothing. All advanced countries with national health insurance plans finance them with broad taxes, though, of course, the rich still pay a much larger portion relative to their benefits. This is the key to make such programs acceptable to the majority. Just like Social Security and Medicare.
