Latest DNA shows we are 4% Neanderthal. The guy they found frozen in the Alps who was 7,000 years old or so, had even more Neanderthal DNA. Everything we know about Neanderthal says they were as smart as us. They had no trouble copying our tools. Then there is the Denisovans in the east. And a third guy they have the DNA for but no bones. We started really mixing up the gene pool 40,000 years ago. Different species of hominids interbreeding, Everyone on the move, back and forth. At least four sub species we know of. All brought different talents to the final product. Hybrid vigor!
