I was talking about the general progression of the human species toward civilization and what that entails.

There was cannibalism until just a few decades ago. But as the moral arrow of civilization flies through time, we humans as a whole, seem to get less and less barbaric, although we do have ups and downs. The progression I see is we stop cannibalism, then salvery, then sexism, then racism, then an understanding of gay civil rights.

The march toward a more civilized world was lead by thinkers, and especially the ancient Greeks who were ahead of the rest of the world until just a few hundred years ago.

The barbarians destroyed the ancient Greeks march toward civilization and it took nearly 2,000 years to get back to where they were. Had they not been destroyed we would be a 1,000 years ahead of whre we are today, IMO.

The church forbid thinking for centuries.
