There are and were abuses with dropped policies in the past (which led to law suits in many cases), but if one had decent insurance prior to the pre-existing condition one was covered (presumably parents insure their kids from the get go).

Now if one did lose his or her job that did or could present a real problem once the cobra period expired. I also agree it created "job lock".

I do agree that Obama care addresses this problem.
