It's not at all clear de Blasio can come through. But he has a couple of rather large things in his favor. The NYTimes has had several pieces suggesting he was extremely effective at his previous roles in NYC government. He not only has strong liberal commitments but appears to be fairly adept at exercising power. We will, of course, get a good chance to see. The other thing is, if the polls turn out to be accurate, the overwhelming character of his victory. It's fun to live close to NYC these days. And it makes watching NYC government more than fun.
