I don't think we have any choice with science. I think it is our manifest destiny to evolve. How the universe works. And the universe says to us: "figure it out or die. I gave you a brain, so use it". I am sure our situation happens all the time around the universe. Some make it and some don't. Those who make it are the real gods. The infinitely smart sentient entities which I believe exist in the very fabric of our universe.
