Rep. Gowdy: Give Obama Another Nobel Prize – for Fiction

President Barack Obama already has one Nobel Prize, now it's time for another — this time for fiction, South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy suggests.

The president has gone above and beyond in giving the American people misinformation about whether they can keep their old health insurance policies, Gowdy said on Fox News' "Kelly File."

Obama had been saying since the healthcare law was enacted in 2010 that Americans could keep their insurance coverage if they like it. But now millions of policies are being cancelled because they don't comply with Obamacare rules, forcing Americans into new policies.

Obama said Monday night that "what we said was you could keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law was passed."

Gowdy wasn't impressed. "The president already has a Nobel Prize for peace, I think he’s shooting for one in fiction," he said Monday on Fox News.

"I could have sworn he said ‘period’ at the end of that statement [in the past] and now he’s added a rather lengthy footnote."

Obama should just come clean, Gowdy said.

"Instead of saying, 'We made a mistake,' even, 'We made an intentional misstatement, we need you to forgive us,' the response is to evade and to answer questions falsely. And then the worst of all is to assume the American people are stupid enough to believe the explanation that he came up with today," Gowdy said.

Obama was controversially awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2009 for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."
