Thoughts from a naive "average joe" investor.

I am a Net addict and need to seek counselling.

Compaq is a better deal right now and has more upside potential than Dell because the shorts are gonna hold Dell down. Compaq has more upside potential because it's multiple is much lower and still remains significantly off of it's highs (not to mention pending split).

Also, I can't believe how INTC has been held back. Besides Microsoft, is there any other company that can be regarded with such high esteem and market leadership? (Not to mention near-monpoly status)

I think "The Oracle effect" has bled into some tech stocks and unrightfully so, but some co.'s will begin to see the Asia effect on earnings and that was the market's reaction today. It's over done with some techs, I never really thought the net PC thing would fly anyway. (probably losing market share to sub 1K's)

Bought some MRK at 88 with some of my Dell profits, and am learning to appreciate why so many investors are fixated on blue-chips. I got some second-hand advice from a wealthy individual, he said to buy stock in company's who's products are needed even during economic slow-downs.

I love you all,
JH
