If they license the technology out as quickly as possible -- say to some of those badly beaten Asian manufacturers -- then disk prices could easily drop.

E.g., CD-R prices. What were they, $50 in 1993? And now $2.99 at Fry's? I know the comparison's not perfect, but there's no reason why the price can't drop by 50% in a while. True, the same thing would happen with Zips, but then at least we'd get over the absolute price barrier that you've identified for a single SparQ disk.

I hope SYQT does all it can to license SparQ technology to other mfgrs, unlike bonehead John Scully in the mid-80s.
