qdog,
MSFT will not come up short due to Asia, since they have only sold 1 copy of each product to Korea, HK, Singapore etc etc combined.
ORCL clearly demonstrates the herd is completely clueless now and will charge off in any direction. Most of the SI threads reflect this mentality also. IBM, HWP, MSFT, CA, MOT.... all faces the same circumstances as ORCL. Not to mention the box makers. Michael Dell said Asia is only 6 or 7% of Dell's business so they should be immuned. Wait till Sony, Hitachi, Packard Bell..... start a price war.
The overall market is still the most influential factor, then the sector, then the individual stocks. QCOM is a strong company in a relatively strong sector but will still get killed short term due to the overall market. I hope to trade and use covered calls to maximize my Q holdings during this period of opportunity.
Maurice, it kind of reminds me of the times when QCOM dropped to the low 30s. You and I were screaming buy.
Brian, I wouldn't rely too much on Lehman or analysts these days. I find it hard to believe that anyone has the wisdom to reduce all the variables into a few concrete numbers.
The bellweathers will drop one by one. We should all repent because the end is near. I will be revisiting Costa Rica and Arenal, the mighty volcano. May be I should sacrifice a Q phone to appease the gods.
