<They (Apple) are simply a non-factor, except for that 3-5% who are true believers.>

This is one minority group I don't mind belonging to. I think it's dangerous to count Apple out of ANY scenario at this point until you see the last shovel-full of dirt dropped on their coffin. Any number of announcements from players like IBM, MOT, MSFT, ORCL, or ADBE could get Apple back in the game real quick, at least as a bench player if nothing else.

<You have been able to say the same stuff about Apple for the last 5-10 years.>

True enough. But Jobs is back. New products are out. Prices are lower (something you *haven't* seen in the past 5-10 years from AAPL*. MSFT is turning out the latest version of its office suite for Mac before Windows, to rave reviews. OS8 is a hit. The _DEVELOPER'S_ release of Rhapsody was enough to start people talking about the power and stability of that operating environment (the development of which, incidentally, is on schedule).

My point: things are happening at Apple. The guy running the show holds one share of Apple stock, and we all know why. If there is a computer company in the world that more closely resembles the spirit of the Network Computer, its stock doesn't trade on any index I've ever seen. MOT, IBM, AAPL, and ORCL could change the computing world in the next 12 months; don't think it can't happen.

Now I suppose you're going to give me the finger, Mark. (sorry, I just couldn't resist). <gg>

Good luck to all tomorrow.

Mark
