I must throw my own input into this issue. As I've stated before I work on Wall Street. I make extensive use of placement firms both for temp and permamanent staffing reuirements.

If FAMH specializes in IT staffing it is quite easy to make the sort of profit percentage Cheryl indicates. My department alone has something like 300 open IT jobs with an average rate in the high 80's. My company pays a very low fee to staffing recruiters; 20% of one year's salary after the employee has worked 90 days. Do the math: 300 ope reqs times 80 thousand times 20%. And we are just one of many many firms dying for staff. On contract or consulting work the placement firm gets anywhere from 15 to 40 percent of the hourly rate. Hourly rates are from 70 to 180 dollars. We currently employ 24,000 contract employees worldwide.

Lots of cash flow and a tremendous profit percentage in this business.
