Just returned from a 2 day Tax Seminar and had the opportunity to discuss warrant questions with an IRS speaker. His "opinion" is that the holding period for stock acquired by exercising warrants begins with the exercise and not with the purchase of the warrant. Also, he said that the wash sale rules would not apply since the relative value of the stock and the warrant were not close enough to make them "substantially identical". He could not site any references but indicated he would let me know - "if" I hear, I will post. Still have not found anything definative in my own research.

BTW TKA,
I thought your spinning $ was very good but would have been more impressed to see "the tomahawk chop"!
