About the shutdown: Nobody cares about it. At least not anyone farther than 25 miles from the Washington Beltway. So every time you hear someone talking about BLAME for the govt shutdown, you're hearing bullshit. Nobody outside the DC bubble blames anyone for it. Hell, I think even most of the unnecessary govt workers that were idled looked on the shutdown as a great stay at home vacation they'd eventually get paid for. Imagine, they told 17% of the govt workforce to stay home and they wouldn't let them work from home, but everyone knew they'd get their pay in time.

I was only faced with a situation like that once .... because a hurricane hit our city. And we not only were told not to come in, we couldn't even get there for days and there was no power there either. Electricity out, trees in the streets. When they got power in the office before my home, it was heaven to go to the office and experience air conditioning again.

Unlike a hurricane which actually did damage, the shutdown didn't hurt anyone or impose costs on anyone.
