The efficiency of drones can be greatly improved. Rather than those big Predator style monsters launching expensive explosive rockets with collateral damage, there could be bird-sized drones which while limited in range, would be vastly better than the big ones in precision. With *facial recognition on-board, the device could identify its target precisely and fire from a range of several metres. With DARPA on the job, it's easy to imagine an air force stealth aircraft dropping 100 Predators across an area, which would then fly to their respective patrol areas, where they would each drop 100 mini drones, which would fly into the town and each release 100 micro drones which would fly around a street, releasing 100 x nano drones which would [without the whine] fly around the house looking for their target.

On spotting the target, the drone would land on his face and inject a nano-dose of polonium. He might not even notice with a very fine needle.

Then the drones could fly back to their mother ships, landing in them, with the big mother ship doing a slow fly-by to pick up the Predators.

Aerodynamics means a tiny drone can't travel far, so a near-by mother ship would be essential.

* Rather than facial recognition, how about sniffing like a dog - very accurate identification. Then people couldn't just wear a mask to avoid detection.
