Edit: I read your second reply to my previous message. Thank you. --- How long will SI be around if I pay for a lifetime membership? When I joined the site back in 1996, I was given a free lifetime membership. Today, a lifetime membership is apparently differentiated into two groups; a paid lifetime membership and a free lifetime membership. Now, if I decide to upgrade my free lifetime membership to a paid lifetime membership, I think that it is a fair question to ask how long SI will be around to honor my paid lifetime membership. Moreover, if I do pay to upgrade my free lifetime membership to a paid lifetime membership for the privilege of excluding all ads, how long would my lifetime membership allow me to exclude ads? If the site is sold again, would the new ownership honor the existing paid lifetime memberships to exclude ads, or do some exclusions apply? My concern is that at some point the site would either go away, negating my paid lifetime membership, or, a new premium tier of membership would be introduced, which requires another payment to exclude all ads. Any insights are kindly appreciated.
