The problem with the "WP IS TERMINAL" statement is that WP does not have to continue as a distinct product as we know it.

Rather, it can be positioned as a cheap clone of MS Word with more features and wider availability (i.e., UNIX). If Corel can build all file compatibility and function compatibility into the WP 9, why wouldn't individual users and corporate users choose WP as an alternative? Such a shift will be costless and painless. Anytime you want to change back to MS Word, you can do that. Many users are tired of MS's arrogance and are looking for practical alternatives.

I believe that Corel is committed to providing a practical alternative. The management is focussing on that strategy. If successful, Corel can regain a large market share (probably to a quarter). Many reviews of WP 8 touted WP versus Word as Ford versus Chevy. Why not?
