US oil exports requires Commerce Dept. approval and is typically very restricted... note that contrary to popular belief, it is not illegal to export, just requires approval to do so... IMO, US won't be a major oil exporter any time soon as it would have to be spun and sold to the ignorant masses first -- not that it won't be tried...
