ah yes the beginning of the end. Not for 3-D persay, but maybe the current run. Recent industries would include Solar and LED lighting. a huge rush on what everyone see's as the "cant miss" industry of the future. a couple leaders, then the crush of small cap startups measured in price to 2020 sales.......
then the "how is ANYONE going to make any profits in this industry....?." As the large players and chinese/far east manufacturers start coming out of the woodwork slashing prices to garner market share.......They all get pummeled back to reality
consolidation happens as the underfinanced, pie in the sky players, and poorly run companies go BK and merge so that the survivors can expand profit margins as well as fund new apps......
Gonna take a couple of years though. Take a long look at the FSLR and CREE monthly charts. I dont think HPQ is the suvivor here, to big, to much buerocracy unless they actually buy a player ala GE in LED. Too expensive now for that. If HPQ succeeds it means there isnt a barrier to entry for anyone to play. If they buy someone, well thats a good sign I think.
Im not making a call here, Plenty of time to size up your own game, but after this run, and this new entrant, I'm thinking of just letting the houses money ride for awhile.
At some point 3D should push back to highs just like for LED and Solar have done. should show that these industies (as I beleive with 3D) are here to stay. Owning the few companies that can run this next gauntlet should prove profitable. the downside? RFID and smartgrid. yuck. |
