The vast majority of Americans in each of 40-plus states surveyed say global warming is real, serious and man-made, and the concerns tend to be slightly higher in coastal or drought-stricken areas, says an analysis out today.

Fortunately, the ignorance of the vast majority of Americans has no consequence. It's surprising though that at this late date the anthropogenic argument has never been weaker. Did it ever make any sense? When I ask a colleague about it, if they'll answer, I get the greenhouse effect argument. What?

How does that work? Light reflects off the surface and then reflects off CO2 in the atmosphere back to the surface, thereby reheating the surface. The CO2 came from fossil fuel. Since there's ever increasing CO2 in the atmosphere, temperature always rises at the surface. There it is, the impregnable argument of the public at reason.

Can any of you refute public reasoning? No. You might as well believe.
