VK on How slow JAVA apps are. You said "It is like going back to the days of the 8088 processor and running Windows on it (if you can accomplish that)." I did a full color graphics oriented visual interface for the 8088 in 1983-84, it even had color icons. No 16 color image took longer than 3 seconds to load from disk. We even got it to animate at a decent frame rate at COMDEX. A friend of mine bought a UNIX source code license and put up a 4 user system on an 8088. He even had it running off a floppy based laptop. Anything can be done if you know how to design a computer program and write efficient code. JAVA machines are no different. Novell certainly has the engineering and the leadership.
