MANY investors don't know about the short-short rule right now. There may be a LOT of surprised investors early next year. Those who think they understand how the big traders work are in for a shocking surprise, because the game is going to suddenly change in a substantial way. I suspect Technical Analysis patterns that appear to work now may be WORTHLESS next year. My broker didn't even know about the rule a month after it passed. I traded information with him (we both came out ahead). You'll probably be hearing a lot about it on CNBC in a few weeks. Regarding making money next year, diversifying can't hurt. I have looked for companies that recently got shredded for earnings surprises, but were basically sound. Ascend Communications is my favorite for next year (also being a good takeover target), but I have a few others I am very excited about. APM is getting shredded right now. I just don't think it's over yet. Ken
