I didn't have enough money for Madoff to allow me to invest with him. Watch "Chasing Madoff" There are many many unanswered questions. The market collapsed and Madoff could no longer find available investors to pay him so he could pay his investors. There was no longer enough money for him to capture so he turned himself in and confessed to being a Ponzi scheme.
