" If you ban the people that provide
content, where does SI end up?"

First I have no idea what s up with SI. But if Im going to guess, like everyone else, they have a problem. based on the numerous turnovers over the years the current (old) model is not going to work. that new board of directors sat around, thought of 100 ways, but this investment board is not going to make it as it is.....

So the model has to be changed. Ads are here. easiest most direct route to cash flow.

knowing that's what your doing, now you have to try to appease the " content" as you so aptly put it. its best to make your changes, broadcast what your doing and do it. I know everyone feels like they aught to be consulted, but there were no glowing idea's I ever saw and knowing that the old model will not work, well you might as well go down swinging.

They likely knew and calculated that they would loose some great posters. Again, keep them and fail? They don't want to, but when Dale did (whatever he did), he crossed some line where they figured "well he is the one we might loose". Business decision.

change is no fun for anyone. if the model doesn't work, might as well change it. If your going to change it go full speed and capture whatever market you define. why ask anyones opinion if all they want to do is go back. We will change or we will move on. I have no doubt that SI isn't going back to what it was.

I'll keep using until its no longer of value. Dale certainly is a strike against them.
