The fact is that the Constitution of the United States was not a totally new creation, since it was based upon the British one already in effect back home. More accurately, the US Constitution was based upon similar constructs in place in the US at the time, certainly ,e.g., the Articles of Confederation. Of course, one could argue that all of these documents had their root in English law.
