I'm currently running a 641 AMD quad core 100watt and its been brilliant. Runs cool and runs anything on windows 7 effortlessly. It benchmarks just under 4000 on that link of yours so the six core looks like a good deal indeed. I use a big air cooler on the cpu it and have some extra fans for the video card and chip set. The chip set runs hottest in my machine.

The CPU rarely walks over 40 deg. C and rarely has to go over 50% usage. It idles at 30 deg C even though the cooler needs the dust blowing out of it.

The six core does look like a sweet deal. I will probably go for an 8 core all the same -g-

If you want to push your CPU to its limits 100% of the time, you can use all the processing power to help find bigger prime numbers at the link below. I ran my CPU on their program for about a year with no mishaps. Your electricity bill will go up a bit though. You can choose the numbers of cores to dedicate to the search, I would suggest leaving at least one core on idle.

I've been looking for those benchmark numbers for Intel and AMD so thanks for the handy links and the post.
