The issue the "50s" have with SI is that we're caught in some sort of limbo while they upgrade the site. I think SI offers some unique features and for the most part doesn't interfere with individual threads unless asked to by subscribers. Does anyone know why our payment of $75 for what we thought was a lifetime subscription was changed? I never got the memo, although I'm sure SI could point out how that was determined.

I still don't understand why those of us who paid for lifetime memberships pre-2000 are segregated into the non-SSL category. I think knowing a web site is secure, is just a given these days. I was very surprised that this was only for new subscribers. The "ad issue" is not something that's going to change. As far as the policies for banning individuals, legally that's at their discretion. They are soliciting ads to keep this enterprise going.

If we really cared about keeping this going, then we should be constructive not destructive in our criticism. I think there's a middle ground.

As far as banning people, I think there should have been some kind of warning and removal. They've created a "martyr" and changed the discussion to "us against them." Nobody wins that.
