It is insurance, Tenchu. You take a pool of people and spread the risk across the whole group. Access to birth control has serious cost considerations. Do you have any idea what having a baby costs in this country? And that is assuming everything works out ok. Which it usually does. But if it doesn't, life long healthcare ain't cheap. Why should people be able to impose their religious beliefs on others and drive up everyone's costs? Does this make sense?

Why is it okay for some to force their religious beliefs on others? What next? Bring back the Inquisition?

Should a business owned by a Christian Scientist be allowed to not offer health insurance to their employees? What about one who has to contribute to Medicare? Should we remove support for blood transfusions because of the Jehovah's Witnesses? Where do we draw lines?

Religious issues have no space in the public sphere because of this. If everyone was a member of a particular sect, then that can and does work. But this country hasn't been that way since the beginning.
