i have been stopped several times over the years for either speeding, license plate light out, inspection sticker, warnings, texas licence plate on front but florida plate on back (legal in florida but illegal in texas (i did not know that.)), etc. i have never had a problem other than the one time i was pulled over in one of those towns where the cops watch all the time for people going 1 mph over the speed limit in a 35 mph zone. when i was stopped, i really did not know why i was stopped, and when told i said "my god!" the cop immediately did not like that, and i just shut up and did whatever he told me while he wrote my ticket. any other time i have been stopped, i just remain calm, don't make any quick moves, and comply with whatever the policeman asks me to do. if the cop wants to shine his light in the backseat or look in my trunk, i always just comply and don't hassle the cop. i have never had a problem with that kind of attitude.
i cannot imagine what would prompt me to drive off after a cop told me to wait for him to come back. if the cop tells me to remain in the car, i comply. if the cop tells me to get out of the car, i get out of the car without giving him/her a problem. my interest is to get my ticket or warning, and get back on the road to my destination.
was it ever discovered what caused this woman to drive off with a van load of kids and drive 100 mph? i do not think it made sense for the cops to fire at the car (they have radios and fast cars right there), but it did not make sense for the woman to drive off either. |
