Ed, this type of attack on the internet happened before during the Bre-X saga. Rumours spread that Jim Bob was resigning from Freeport. Bre-X shot up to $5.00 very quickly and then fell back down into the $2 dollar range. The media blamed it on "internet rumours" from the Bre-X thread on S.I." Well Adrian Duplessis went through every every post and timed them with every trade and discovered that the stock started running before any mention of the rumour was posted on S.I. And when it was posted the threadsters quickly challenged and refuted it. It turns out that the rumour was most likely started from a major brokerage house. Guess which one?????

Of course the papers never made a retraction. They just continue to propogate the lie. They are threatened by the internet but in the long run there is nothing they can do about it.
